Whoa! It took 3 days of wrestling with the antennae, 5 calls to the tech person in India (how's the weather?) and about $100...
but we have 2 PCs and a couple laptops on wireless DSL in the house.
Will wonders never cease. The $$ didn't really hurt, the frustration cost more. (Me, not the DH who worked miracles with a few electrons).
Away for a week Back with DSL :)

Welcome back.

We found out the first, less expensive, one we tried didn't penetrate the walls well enough (one computer upstairs, one downstairs). For $40, we did everything we could to get it to work, including locating the antennae centrally, making sure the router and the ISP were compatible (many calls to India), and more. We just about gave up and threw in the towel.
Upon returning it to Fry's, my hubby ran into a colleague who explained the problem was just the walls. The more expensive one worked fine.
I believe the successful brand is eWire.
It's cute, a blinking robot sort of like a little UFO.
I will get back to you

As for signal strength, some vendors sell... basically, larger antennaes. But I guess that doesn't matter since everything is working fine now.

The unsuccessful one was eWire, it would be ok if you aren't trying to do too much.
LOVE it, working so nicely, I don't have to clean the bathrooms while my pictures load anymore.
