   The dishwasher was invented by Josephine Cochran in 1889.

   Dorothy Levit came up with the idea of the rear view mirror, she suggested that women should carry a hand held mirror to see behind them; and
   
   In 1919, Alice Parker of Morristown, New Jersey, invented a new and improved gas heating furnace that provided central heating she worked for Madame C.J. Walker, the first African American millionaire

   Several other items were supposedly invented by women, as mentioned on a radio show I heard, but I couldn't verify them. They were all convenience common sense things except one (it's obvious):
   
   refridgerator (probably a combination of inventors)
   circular saw (unpatented by a Quaker woman)
   bra
